Having problems capturing a DVD screenshot (1 Viewer)

I'm using Gadwin Printscreen along with Windows Media Player or WinDVD, and I'm only able to produce a black screen where the still movie image should be.

I've snooped around the internet and have followed suggestions about changing the video acceleration with no luck.

Am I understanding correctly that some computer DVD players allow captures while others do not? I've heard that PowerDVD should work.

I'm not sure why I'm having such a hard time with this, but I sure would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Jon

Hey Jon, :)

Which version of Windows Media Player are you using? As I mentioned in my PM, Windows Media works fine with Gadwin for me. . . I'm not at home, but I think I have Media Player 10. . .

Maybe someone else has another player/capture program suggestion for you to try. . .

I can confirm that PowerDVD does the job. Go into the programs "Options" or "Preferences" (I forget which term they use) to specify whether you want the cap saved to a file, placed on the clipboard, etc. Also specify resolution. Then find the scene of your choice and simply press "C".

Check the materials that came with your computer's DVD-ROM drive to see if a copy of PowerDVD was included. You may be able to find an older copy of the software for cheap on Ebay or elsewhere. I'm pretty sure the screen cap feature goes back at least as far as version 4.

Hey there, Elizabeth ;) - My Windows Media Player (which I am not at all crazy about) is version 9.x.

Yep, already scoped that out. Got one coming (version 6.0) for five bucks. I'm going to stop pulling my hair out and wait for PowerDVD to arrive.

Thanks,

Jon
