I just got hdtv from wow cable and i have been having a hum through the tv and stereo speakers. Now i will admit that i am new to the home theater thing but did a little trouble shooting and notice that i get no hum through my xbox or dvd changer. I also have a scrolling transparent line that rolls vertically. Could i be having these problems because of piece of crap cables.

    Yes,

poor cabling, unclean power, or a ground loop problem.

    Best of luck

different points of your HT system having different grounding points (different paths), and this can cause a 60 hz buzz in your system. This is particularly a problem when cable TV in introduced into a system.

    regards
