    Have you?

If not, what fraction have you watched?

I seem to be acquiring DVDs faster than
I have time to watch them.

I have not viewed Air America or Planet of the Apes, and do not expect to.

They're well-thought of gifts, but I really don't like the movies.

Ha! You must be joking. [IMG]
Of my 500+ discs, I'd say there are probably 50 (counting TV series) that I've yet to watch. That's just off the top of my head--could be less, but I don't think it's more.
If you add in bonus materials like documentaries and commentaries, I'd say I've only completely "watched" maybe 250. Which is why it doesn't always bother me when I get a featureless disc.
I'd watch a lot more, but I tend to review enough discs that I'd rather not see that I have little time to watch what I want on DVD and not miss the TV shows I like.
I've had Nashville since July of 2000 and I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. That's my record there. I've also had discs I bought on a whim and sold before seeing them. The only one I can think of is He Said, She Said, but I'm sure there are more.

I have watched all my DVD's. I have about 170 right now. Now if we're talking about unread books, then it's another story.

No. I have some that I got dating back about 2 years that I've yet to watch. I need to really get my butt in gear and watch them. I'd say I've seen about 70% of my DVDs.

Well, I buy them pretty fast (up to 4 a week), and while I typically watch a number of films in a week, that includes rewatching ones I already have, and watching films on my replay that I've never seen.

So, out of approximately 700 dvds, I've got 38 I haven't yet seen, not counting the 4 I ordered yesterday.

All 119 of them are watched. Extras on the other hand, about 1/4 of them.

It seems there are 2 types of DVD buyers,
    1. Collectors - who buy several discs a week, to satisfy the need to own the films they like, not necessarily to watch at the moment and,
    2. Movie Buyers - who buy the DVD with the expressed purpose of watching them. Owning the movie is a secondary perk.
    So - which are you?
Do you have to be a "film buff" to be a collector?

I'll chime in as a film buff - Collector. I have only watched a little over half the movies I own. Owning them - and being able to view on a whim - is more important that just "watching" the movie.

    Welcome to the club, Paul.

I guess I would fall into Rick Blaine's 'Collectors' category. I have about 1000 titles, of which I'm sure I haven't watched probably 300 or so (many TV and documentary sets), and don't even get me started on the extras (which is OK by me, since I only watch them if I liked the film or found something interesting about it).

It may not seem so with 1000 titles in my collection, but I'm rather picky about what I buy. I read many reviews about something before I buy the DVD, concerning both the film itself and the transfer/audio/general production on disc, and many of the films I buy I haven't even seen. I've had a great success rate though, and probably only end up getting rid of 5% of these sight-unseen purchases.

I've had a handful of DVDs for almost 5 years now that I haven't got around to watching yet. They're nothing special though.

I have about 250 dvd's so far and probably 15 that I haven't watched. Some I just want to get into the mood for, Pulp Fiction, Ben Hur, and others I just haven't found the time yet, BTTF.
There are plenty that I have watched multiple times though so it all evens out. I do feel guilty though so I try to catch up when I can. [IMG]

    379 DVD's in total, 67 of which I haven't watched.
But I have watched *all* of the extras on the 312, that I *have* watched. Including all the commentaries (all 4 on Se7en, all 4 on LOTR and so on).
