I can't answer yes to Walter Brennan's question from To Have and Have Not, but I have been bitten by a dead shark about a half dozen times, including just a moment ago. In the '80s, my parents bought me a shark jaw at a beachside shop, and I've had it ever since. I always forget where I put it, and it always comes back to bite me in the . . . hand. This time, it was hiding under an Alf puppet that was sitting on top of a post. I went to move Alf, and got bitten again! My thumb has a nice little shark tooth-shaped cut in it.

Has anything dead ever bitten you?

I've got one of those sharks tooth nacklaces. The tooth is really tiny, but DAMN is that thing sharp as a knife! Every now and then, it'll dig into my neck and I'm like "OW"! I can't even begin to imagine what a real shark bite (with hundreds of giant teeth) must feel like.

Yeah, I didn't really think of that. I just barely grazed one of this thing's teeth and it hurt like a sumbitch. Just think it if was actively biting down on you? And this one had a relatively small mouth.

Yes, one time I was putting together a insect collection for school and had a dead bee soaking in a jar of alcohol for about a day. When I picked it out of the jar, the bee stung me, no lie!!! It was obviously dead, but it got me.

I've been attacked by HUNDREDS OF HALF DEAD BEES!

A few years ago, I lived in a 4th floor corner apartment by the stair well.

One September we had a flash freexing thing where it got really cold one night. Bees don't do well in the cold. That morning, a noticed a bee crawling under my apartment door. I stepped on it, threw it away, and went along with my routine when the dog started barking. I looked, and 3 more bee's were slowly crawling under my door. I stepped on them, and went out in the hall to see what was going on.

BEE'S EVERYWHERE! The stairwell was FULL of these crawling half dead bees, they were all down the hall. There was a hole in the screen window in the stairwell, and as it got cold, they all came in. It was like something out of SWARM! I went back in the apartment and put a towel across the bottom of the door to keep them out. I had to goto work, so I dashed down the hall to the eleveator so I wouldn't get stung. When I got home, there was no sign of them, so I have no idea how they got rid of them.

It was the strangest thing I've witnessed with bees. I didn't get stung though.

Now that I think about it, my mother told me she was walking through the grass when she was a kid and got stung by a dead bee.

This past summer, I had a bunch of wasps or something (they were red and black) building nests all around my house. I had some spray insecticide, so I sprayed them real quick and then busted ass into the house. It did nothing to kill them. So, I threw caution to the wind and used the water hose on the nests until they fell. The wasps flew around in confusion, but they never once even came close to attacking me. They did start rebuilding their nests, though. At that point, I figured they'd earned the right, so now I still have a pair of small nests with increasingly lethargic (with the cold weather) wasps clinging to them.

Anything dead ever bitten me? Hmmm, only those pesky animals that I buried in the local Indian Burial ground.

"Sometimes, dead is better."
