What kind of lighting control do you want?
What kind / size of set? Tube vs RPTV

Off hand, about the only one is your price range is the 47" panny. Some have gotten it for as little as 1400?? You will have to shop around and do some price matching. I also requires a profession calibration, but once done offers an outstanding pic.

OneCall is selling the Toshiba 42H81 for $1539 shipped. Just follow the link:

I found the deal at Gotapex.com and it expires "Friday, 6/14/02 at 3pm Pacific time". It's $39 over budget, but it's mighty close.

I will third the AE-100.

I bought mine sight unseen, got a prog scan DVD, AA transcoder and couldn't be happier. I am anxious to get HDTV set up, but this thing is really awesome. Check one out if you can, and read up on the avsforum.

FPTV is a much better option IMHO if you have a suitable location for it. I thought these people were nuts too, just a little over a month ago.
