Since DVDFile hasn't been updated in a while, I've been wondering if Warner, my fave DVD studio, has started making anouncements for next year yet.

I'm interested in if they've announced the titles I want ("Crossing Delancey", "Year Of The Dragon", "Electric Dreams", the Spielberg cartoons, "Night Court", et al).

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

Looking forward to whatever the studio with the shield has for '05.

I'd love to know what they're up to, as well.

Although, with all the titles they've been releasing this year, perhaps they need a break. [IMG]

Warner is supposed to bring out 6 Elvis movies on January 8th. This has not been officially confirmed as of yet, however. The news was leaked by an EP Enterprises excecutive last August.

I'm really hoping that we finally see Bad Day at Black Rock released. It would be a real coup if Warner got the Sturges commentary from Criterion, but I doubt that it wil happen. I wonder what has held up it's release, though?

I'm glad to see Something the Lord Made is on that list. I've been wanting to see that movie ever since I first read about it but unfortunately I don't have HBO.

I'm getting King Soloman's Mines. I think it is the best version out there.

I was supprised to see it at FF, but IMDB lists it at 1:37, so I guess I won't be missing much! Good!

King Solomon's Mines was made in 1950, Glenn. It was prior to the the wide screen era which began in 1953.

Same for Ivanhoe (1952) though if Warners uses the same trailer that's on the laser disc, I'm sure some HTFers will post complaints. The trailer announces the film is in CinemaScope! I assume the trailer was created for a false wide screen release (like Shane) that some 1.37 films were subjected to ..... although it was probably never releases in that format.

In terms of DVD, it doesn't matter much whether a transfer is noted as 1.33:1, full frame, or 1.37:1.

It's like being let down that your favorite 1.85:1 film is 1.78:1 on DVD. It's not a big deal.

No, I wasn't expecting a 2:35, but seeing FF made me wonder why? They couldn't handle doing an OAR? Putting down FF, while correct in this case, might cause some people (the OAR purists) to skip buying it, even if they'll only be missing a .004. That's almost laughable!
