Just watched the premier of Monster's Ball and it was 2.35 X 1.

Maybe a sign of things to come?????

    Anyone heard anything?

I've seen some other 2.35:1 stuff recently, althought I can't remember what.

Typically the only 2.35:1 OAR is stuff that was transferred before they enacted their butcher policy.

HBO does most HD transfers themselves. Studio provides a print (or interpositive or something), then HBO does the transfer and pan-and-scan.

It is possible that the studio provided the HD transfer in this case. This may not reflect any kind of policy change.

    We'll see.

I would encourage everyone to e-mail HBO and thank them for showing Monster's Ball at 2.35:1. [IMG]
