Mine is in serious need of replacement and was thinking about doing this myself. I was wondering how hard it is. I don't beleive the cabinet is load bearing in any way but simply there to hide things and perhaps keep the tub from tipping over. Please correct me if I'm wrong. My tub is pretty big. It seats 9 so I wont be able to move the tub at all. I was just thinking about tearing down what there and building a light framing and maybe cover it all with some T-111 painted to match my house. What do yall think?

You are probably right that the cabinet is just there to hide the plumbing.

If you have the tools this should be a quick and easy job.

When you tear out the original I would make take care to look at how it is framed so you can copy it when you build the new one.
