I have my eye on this at Sears where I have a charge account and because I do a lot of graphics and will soon want to install QUARK EXPRESS, I need a unit that can handle it. A few specs on the RX-750: 1.6 GHz ATA-100; 80 MB hard drive; 512 MB Ram; 32 MB Video Ram; NVIDIA TNT2 M64 AGP 4X "Graphics acceleration"; SoundMAX Integrated Audio AD1881A Sound card; DVD-RW & DVD-ROM; V.90 modem; firewall, etc. Retail $1100.00 minus $100.00 rebate. Anyone have any info to share? Thanks in advance. And BTW, has anyone a suggestion for where I might buy QUARK (and ADOBE PHOTOSHOP) really cheaply?

Thats a good amount of HD space and RAM. What CPU does it use??? At 1.6Ghz I'm guessing the Celeron, if so don't buy it! Plus the videocard in the machine is really weak as is the sound system.
Now the words Quark, Adobe, and cheap do not go in the same sentence together at all :)

If you're a student, or know one you should be able to get a heavily discounted version through academic stores

Also, try pricewatch. If you're willing to buy older versions you can usually clean up

Kelly - Why do you warn against a Celeron? And, now that I look, this is actually a 2.0A GHz Intel Pentium 4.

The 2.0ghz, 1.8ghz, 1.7ghz, 1.0ghz, 1ghz, 950mhz, 900mhz, and 850mhz celerons only have 128kb of L2 cache. The 1.4Ghz, 1.3Ghz, 1.2Ghz, and 1.0A Ghz, celerons have 256kb of L2 cache. That P4 2.0A has 512kb. There's a pretty good speed difference in many applications thanks to the bigger cache. Currently, there is no 1.6Ghz celeron.

So, basically, the SONY RX-750 sounds like quite a deal. It is pre-loaded with Adobe Acrobat Reader & Photoshop Elements; DigitalPrint; DVgate; MovieShaker; PC-Cillin; PicoPlayer; PowerDVD; Quicken 2002; Smart Capture; SonicStage; WordPerfect2002, and a bunch of other stuff. It does have a 2.0A Intel Pentium 4 processor. The SEARS sale ends this week. Would you say it's a go? (I won't hold anyone liable if it turns out to be a bust!)
