Your thoughts on how the two differ sonically would be much appreciated.
Sorry, Shion, I have not done a A/B comparison of these two amps side by side, only at separate stores, thus the comparison is not direct. I was also looking at purchasing either one and the slight push that led me in the direction of the Bryston is their fully transferable 20 year warranty. I bought a used (1.5 year old) Bryston 3B ST. Both are built extremely well and have somewhat of a similar design (dual torroidal transformers, about 2x120wpc).
You really cannot go wrong with either component.
Musical Fidelity A3 CR - Stereophile Class A
Bryston 3B ST - Stereophile Class B
I also did not compare them side by side, but when I listened to the Music F I liked it. I auditioned a 3bst on Sat and it was very veiled. I did not care for it at all. I audioned it against a Citation 7.1, an Aragon 8008x5, and 4 different tube amps. I left with a tube.
I have the Musical Fidelity A3cr Preamp & Amp and love their sound. Very revealing and detailed, paired with my Martin Logan SL3's the match is heaven...I don't think you could go wrong with either but thought I'd share my happiness too!
