    Hey guys,
Other than the 200.00 price difference and the power output, are there any other differences I am missing between the two? Thanks in Advance

I think the 520 smells better.

Just kidding. I bought the 520 over the 320 mainly because of the power differential. I doubt there are any other significant differences.

Main amp inputs. That's what sold me on the 520.

Add backlit remote, amplifier inputs, HDCD decoding, along with 20 more watts and you have the 520.

The 520 also has dual power supplies--one for the fronts and the other for center and surrounds. Whether there's a real-world listening difference as a result is unclear, but that's about it. The 520 does sound smoother at very high output levels with two-channel listening, no doubt because it has more power. However, for me those output levels were not anywhere close to what I would be listening at (about -15db on the volume knob with channel levels at 0), so I went with the 320 (didn't need the backlit remote or any of the other features of the 520). Either way, you'll be in for a very good listening experience.

I just got my 320 on Wednesday. I was originally going to go with the 520, until I realized that the 320 was just 20 watts less (it still has plenty of power) and I really

wasn't going to use the 520s HDCD decoding. So, I saved $150. I got mine at jandr.com for $500.

Eujin, dual power supplies are featured right across the H/K line, actually.

JohnnyG, thanks for correcting me--I feel even better now that I got the 320 instead of the 520! [IMG]

As I feel better about getting the 520. Just like a car, the extra power is handy in the long run. Plus the option of reassigning channels is going to be awesome when the wife lets me do another small upgrade. But for the money I spent..less than a half dozen large ones...a seperate amp will still keep me in the plus side of the dollar to performance ratio![IMG]

Does the HK 320 have preouts for adding an outboard amp?

I just called JandR.com and the sales guy offered the 520 for $599. I think I am going with the 320 ($499) though.

The AVR8000 would be good if you want Logic7 decoding from 5.1 sources or if you need more power. After hearing Logic7, I definitely want to use it for DVD's. [IMG] That's the one I'm getting because I can't afford anything from Lexicon.

Thanks for the replies guys, and an updated price list of where to get them at. Looking at both receivers from a straight pre/pro point of view which would you get? I do not care about power (obviously), hdcd decoding, or the backlit remote. Also what is the advantage of having main inputs on the 520 vs. the 320?

Back to the AVR8000, it does use dual Crystal DSP's right?

Thats why you can apply L7 to 5.1 sources..?

Does it really make a difference?

What exactly does it do to the sound?
