when watching standard digital cable/DSS what do you prefer
the new Pro Logic 2, or Logic 7,even with just 5.1 set up?

I bought this unit specifically to upgrade to DPLII and never even thought about Logic 7, when watching DSS i am leaning towards the Logic 7. It just seems a little more open. I run Toslink from my DSS to the H/k 320.

I use the L7- seems to have better (and more realistic) rear speaker output

With the AVR525 is it possible to do a 7.1 setup out of the box without anything else? I just purchased this receiver online (backordered) and was wondering if I need to get two more speakers.

in order to get the two back channels you will need two speakers. unlike last years models, the 320 and 520, which required an external amp to power the two rears, the 525 has the amplifiers built in.

    LOGIC-7 IMO DPL-II doesn't compare.

What is so much better about Logic 7. First off, what is it exactly? I bought this receiver (it is still backordered) on the recommendations of friends and people from this forum. I know its a good receiver. I am sure it will take me a helluva time to set it up. Do you think it will sound good with my Polk speakers?

L7 uses very sophisticated algorithms for surround placement, and it does it very well. Some even compare it to THX (high end equipment from Lexicon has L7)
