I have a Mitsubishi 36 inch tv that is quite a few years old. It was recently repaired and given to me. The picture overall looks great except when it comes to shadowing around faces and objects. Instead of a smooth shadow I get a hard line, it almost makes it look like a drawing. I've already calibrated it with avia hometheater disc. I thought maybe the sharpness was up too high. Is this something that can be repaired or is it just that the tv is really old. I will try to get a picture posted to show what I mean. I'm hoping there is some adjustment that might fix this.

Could your contrast be too high and/or brightness too low? Are you losing black detail? Another possibility is the CRT is wearing out; a build up on the cathode can cause low level details to be lost.

Well, I did use the avia calibration disc so I think I got it tweaked as far as brightness/contrast is concerned.
