Had a good weekend back in NJ, was great to see the crowd supporting Atlantic Highlands Fair. Got a prime spot up on the bulkhead and took a couple hundred pics of the fireworks. These are the ones I liked best. Nikon D850, on tripod, via 'bulb' release which means manually hold open the shutter and hope that you don't get toooooo much light on each shot =) Steady winds and high humidity are the enemy for shots like these, but still got a few I really like.

I miss watching and shooting fireworks. Our township stopped putting on a display a few years ago due to budget cuts. We were within walking distance of the park where the event was held each year.

The annual Plymouth 4th of July parade was canceled again this year due to the pandemic. All restrictions have been lifted, but it was too late for the community to plan for the parade. Hopefully next year.

I've come to hate fireworks and dread the sound of them every summer. I really feel sorry for pets and their owners as the sound of fireworks has to play much havoc on those poor pets.

I am not a fan of the fireworks set off in the neighborhood by the residents, but I've always loved going to a display put on by the local community. We would walk to the park, setup our folding chairs, and watch the display with thousands of other people. It brought back great memories of doing the same thing as a kid. We got together with close family friends every 4th, went to the parade in the morning, had a BBQ during the day, and then finished off the night at the fireworks set off at the high school, which was within walking distance of our house. No fighting traffic like most of the attendees.

Right, my issue is with the fireworks set off in the neighborhood.

What annoyed me this past 4th was that the local fireworks were going on late into the night. I can sorta see it for New Year's Eve because the New Year occurs at midnight; but it was annoying to be constantly awakened late into the night of July 4th. I'd just get to sleep before another barrage started. I can't see the appeal of staying up that late making a lot of noise. Fortunately my dog isn't bothered by them, but my previous dog would bark as every single one went off.

After a three year absence due to the pandemic, our hometown held its annual July 4th "Good Morning USA" parade. I took the opportunity to try out my newly acquired EF-M 18-150mm lens for my small Canon M50 mirrorless camera. We road our bicycles into town to avoid parking issues, so this camera combo worked much better than carrying my full frame body and a couple of lenses.
