Saw a display at Wal-Mart of VHS titles and saw "Happy Campers". It stars Brad Renfro and other young actors.

Looked this up on DVD Empire and noticed that it is also on DVD.

The VHS at Wal-Mart is $3.88 and the DVD on-line is $5.78 or so.

Has anyone seen this film?

Is it worth buying?

DVD or VHS?

I wanted to love this one, as it was written and directed by Dan Waters (the writer of HEATHERS). It was his first big film since HEATHERS.

It sat on the shelf for years. I and many others were upset by this and were dying to see it.

It was finally released to DVD and, well, I can see why it was on the shelf.

It wasn't funny. It is no HEATHERS.

Thumbs down from me.

I would agree with Jon's assessment. If you want a movie with a similar theme that is actually funny, check out "Wet Hot American Summer" which you can get from DDD for $9.35 The extra four bucks are worth it.

Definitely. One of the funniest films of recent years. And a great DVD. Very funny commentary and some great deleted scenes. I bought it when it was almost $30 and thought it was well worth that price.
