Yes, my Dreamcast turns 3 today. I've still got that T-shirt EB gave away to the people who bought theirs at midnight. I remember taking a vacation day on the 10th to enjoy Sonic Adventure and Soul Calibur through the weekend...

And I'm still enjoying the system. I'm slowly getting through Headhunter(UK) and Shenmue 2(UK)... but right now I'm having fun with MvC2...

It's really sad the system got an early death, but it was par for the course for Dreamcast systems... Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast... all came out before the competition, only to be beaten by it.

Happy Birthday Dreamcast... a fanboy poem by yours truly, written in five minutes
Ode to DC
The little white box with the red swirly thing
Has come to stand for the best games can bring
Whether Rayman is jumping and leaping unfettered
We all paused to realize:
The DC version’s better. :)
The ghosts of RS and Panzer Dragoon
Hold the DC in inferior swoon
But can we forget these games just for a while
And think about that which makes us all smile?
Jet Grind brought a style and music all its own
Although the bad camera sometimes made me groan
Samba de Amigo and Space Channel Five
Caused a little known genre to burst out and thrive
Metropolis Street Racer made me stay up
Til 4 in the morning, with my eyes all a-glut
The soundtrack was bad, but before long
I was grooving along to the Will Smith-esque song
Oh Gunbird, oh Bangai O, and Mars Matrix too,
Surrounded by bullets, my controller I then threw
Across the room, but then before long
I was playing again, and a-singing this song
Oh Dreamcast, Oh Dreamcast, oh where did you go
The pimply faced Fry’s guy told me I am a fool
For buying a VMU, a controller, and a box
For an obsolete system that does not match X-box.
“It’s a dead system now,” he said, with a wink and wry grin
“Buy an ______, and you sure can’t go wrong.”
“It’s got better graphics, and better games to boot.”
“Why do you continue to throw away loot?”
Then I think of the night that I first played Shenmue
I lived out my life in a whole other way
Or the flurry of Capcom games, polished and bright
Power Stone and it’s sequel were definitely alright
It had PC ports, driving games, fighting games galore
Adventure games, platformers, never a bore
Fishing games, puzzle game, dancing games too
Those who can’t see this, I pity, I rue
So Happy Birthday from a fanboy who will never give up
In spreading the word that the DC is dope
Not since the NES have I been so enthralled, I just hope
One day Morgan will wake to its call...

Ikaruga arrives!
Yes it did! I woke up to nice package in my mailbox, opened it up and there say Ikaruga. Played through the first 3 levels.

Any self-respecting DC owner must go out and immediately purchase this game. Now two words about it. In case you haven't noticed I love it so far.
Back to playing....

I will say that playing Sonic Adventure on DC the day it came out was probably one of the coolest gaming experiences in my life, but it's gonna be hard to get much more out of me.

I will also say Happy 3rd Birthday Dreamcast!

Yay! Go Dreamcast! I still enjoy digging around in the local stores looking for bargains on DC software.

I still can't find a used copy of Space Channel 5 in the stores around here. Off to eBay I think.
CC had one for $39 :P

It goes on eBay for a few bucks at most. Vastly over supplied in North America.

All of the local Fry's stores in my area have *numerous* copies of sealed, shrink wrapped 'space channel 5' for $5.99 a piece. Have you tried Fry's yet?

For all who couldn't get enough of Space Channel 5, there is Space Channel 5 Part 2... Sadly, only release in Japan, but still a lot of fun to play.

Happy Birthday!!!

Yep Steve. I believe there was a DC and a PS2 release. I've been searching for the DC release on several import sites and am having a tough time finding it. When I find it I'll pick it up in a heartbeat. (If not I'm just going to import the PS2 version)
