Check it out!
This isn't another Resident Evil or Doom we have here...
Geez, that write-up just quelched all my worries...
1. Will MC call everyone he kills a noob?
2. Will the film show people running into corners and killing themselves with grenades?
Mine too. Holy smokes, I'm blown away.
And for those worried about spoilers, it's not bad at all if you have played the game. He makes an effort not to spoil anything too much.
I am so convinced! /sarcasm
Scary, but I find myself agreeing with Kain.
I was really hoping they would not do a direct adaptation of the game, and that's what this sounds like.
I only played the first game, as the second one isn't out for PC yet. Will the film be a separate story, inspired by the games, or will it adapt the actual storyline of the first game (and/or combined with the second)? I saw Doom this weekend, and it was okay, kinda fun, but not a direct adaptation of the game Doom 3, on which the production design is heavily based.
I didn't want a direct adaption either, but that doesn't mean for one second it will be bad. Just not very surprising for those who know the game well. As far as how they're handling the material and characters, it sounds pretty damn good to me. (although i'm not too sure about how they described MC's look)
And this report is trustworthy because......?
I loved Halo and to a lesser extent Halo2, but how do we know that this isn't a leaked script to a paid to praise website?
Well, how do we know this isn't a comment from a paid Halo Movie detractor?
Ummm...because I haven't disparaged the games or the script?
I dunno. For me, Latino Review has a rather dubious history when it comes to script reviews. I seem to remember them really liking the Oceans 12 script too...
They got ahold of the Batman Begins script long before the film came out and detailed it quite well. Brought up exact scenes that were in the film. I'm thinking its legit.
Oh, I'm not saying it's not legit. I'm sure the reviewer actually read it. I'm just saying I don't exactly trust their opinion.
We'll see when it comes out this Friday, but Latino Review also called the Get Rich or Die Tryin' script in the same league as Goodfellas. Somehow, I'm just not buying that one either.
Great carnage does not a great action film make, and when you spend 5 sentences describing the greatness of a line of dialogue like "What are my orders?", I can't help but feel a little skeptical.
I dunno, Ebert and Roepert liked it .
how many of you who played both Halo games actually watched ALL the clips and followed the storyline closely? i didn't. the story itself wasn't remotely interesting to me, but the game's playability rocked
I did. And everyone I know did. (and I know almost 20 people). Believe it or not I pay attention to to plot of books and movies too.
I enjoyed the story in both games (though Halo 2's was a bit haphazard for my tastes). I tried reading the first Halo novel but didn't care for it though. The radio dramas, on the other hand, were better than anything in the games.
I think the storyline is fine for the game. But for a movie, I think they need to adapt something more along the lines of The Fall of Reach, which can actually incorporate character development.
Oh well, I will definitely be following the developments.
