Just picked up the latest issue of Video Watchdog and saw this little tidbit:

"Kim Newman just recorded commentary tracks with Steve Jones for HALLOWEEN II and HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH - these releases will be out in the US as part of an Anchor Bay box set and in the UK as individual releases."

Since the 25th Anniversary Edition of HALLOWEEN is scheduled for release in Fall 2003 from Anchor Bay, I'm pretty sure that's when the box set is coming out.

I only hope for three things:

    1. The Criterion LD commentary on the HALLOWEEN DVD (or a new one with John Carpenter, Debra Hill, and any other cast members).

    2. The alternate/deleted scenes from HALLOWEEN 2 (TV version).

    3. The inclusion of HALLOWEEN 6. After Part 6, the series went in a different tangent, so I don't think H2O or HALLOWEEN 8 will be included (but who knows?).

But Halloween 6 is so god-awful [IMG]
Thx for the news...can't wait to find out more.

True enough, HALLOWEEN 6 is pretty horrible (and at times incomprehensible), but it is Donald Pleasence's last film. So that's got to count for something.
Hopefully, but again I'm not holding my breath, Anchor Bay might get their hands on the workprint version of HALLOWEEN 6 (which I heard was a better version, but how hard could that be).[IMG]

They should release the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6.

If this is true, I'll be all over this box set! Glad to see that the classic that is HALLOWEEN 3 is getting some special treatment, because it damn sure is more than deserving!

    I have to say it.

"Happy happy Halloween Halloween, silver sharocks." Don't ask.

I hope that if they don't release the producers' cuts of five and six, they at least have the deleted footage.

The Halloween box set has just been released by Anchor Bay in the UK and features all Halloween films apart from Halloween 6. Halloween II and III in the set do indeed feature the Kim Newman commentary.

Is perhaps somebody getting a little confused?

Thanks for the link, James; at least I know who Newman and Jones are now. I wonder why 6 would be excluded, but H20 would be included. Does someone other than Disney own the video rights for H20 in the UK?

The fact that is was presented to the BBFC as widescreen makes me think that Disney are thinking of releasing this title themselves in the near future (although Halloween would seem to be the ideal time, and no such DVD is listed on any UK based e-tailer.) [IMG]

Geez. I just bought a few of the Halloween movies and unless something reeeeeeeeeeeeally important comes out in this new set, I'll skip it. I haven't watched them enough to warrant a re-purchase.

Myers Myers everywhere! Anchor Bay really lives for these multiple re-releases don't they? [IMG]
We should update the term 'double dipping' just for them and call it 'skinny double dipping' because after so many releases of the same movie we no longer have the shirts on our backs! [IMG]
Really though, I don't yet have the anamorphic versions of Halloween 4 and Halloween 2 so i'll most likely pick this set up.
And yes, definately put me down for the producers cut of Halloween 6! From what i've read about this missing cut over the years it sounds FAR superior to the version we ended up with!

Yah...but I doubt that the producer's cut will see the light of day (aside from bootleg VHS and VCD).

Either way...I don't have 2 or 4 either, so I may be interested.
