Considering how many different color tones this film has been through on previous DVD and BD releases, I'll wait to see some actual trusted reviews before buying this one.

Any word on if this is a new transfer or a UHD encode of the transfer used for the 35th Anniversary edition? I couldn't find any info on if the 35th was a 2K or 4K transfer, but it's a safe bet that it was a 2K given that it was Anchor Bay.
Fingers crossed that the included blu would be a from the new master as well à la The Matrix.
I am questioning why I am picking this up after purchasing the Blockbuster released VHS, Anchor Bay Widescreen VHS, AB 20th Ann. Orange VHS, Limited Edition 2 disc DVD, Divimax DVD, 1st Blu, 35th ann. Blu, and the same discs in the boxed set. I'm not obsessed or somethin'.

Remember when Anchor Bay was THE go-to label for releases of lesser-known films or genre films? Times have certainly changed. I'll see what the reviews say, but I don't know that it's a film I'll pre-order, simply because I don't know how much a 4K release will bring to the table. Cundey is a great cinematographer, but it was still a really low-budget film from the 70's. They may surprise me. Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy if they do. I'm just skeptical.

Remember when Anchor Bay WAS a label? They've been defunct for a while now.
I had no idea that they finally faded away last year. In the early years of DVD, their releases served as a de facto film school for me when it came to obscure films and Italian genre cinema. RIP, Anchor Bay.

This would need to be absolutely perfect to get me to buy it again.

Weird huh. I only found this out because I was curious on why Lionsgate was doing this release. Pour some out for AB. You're in a better place with surrounded with your 1000 different releases of Evil Dead films.

Anyone with concerns on this? Like Terminator 2, I have learned to never buy the first release of this on a new format.

Edit: Here is an old link describing the initial release on DVD some 20 years back along with a production diary on the creation of the beloved 1999 DVD.

Concerns about what?

The colors and audio have fluctuated pretty dramatically from release to release throughout the DVDs and Blu-rays.
Yeah I know that but I guess my comment was more of a “let’s wait and see” attitude regarding concerns.

Concerns about what?

Just to elaborate, the first DVD of Halloween was the poster child of not to make a DVD. It was a non-anamorphic transfer with a litter of compression errors even in the black bars. Two years later and we got the 1999 THX remaster which was the gold standard for this movie for quite a while.
The first blu-ray was sourced from the same transfer used for the Divimax DVD edition which was maligned for its awful color timing. Many forums and reviews had heavily complained about this DVD and Anchor Bay used it anyway.
The subsequent blu was the 35th anniversary edition was quote good. The color of the beloved 1999 THX was still not completely restored, but it was a damn good presentation. One point of contention for many was the incorrect original mono track which was not fixed until the boxed set release.
"Let's wait and see" is the best approach I would recommend for everyone, but who am I kidding! I've been purchasing every new version of this since my $2.99 Blockbuster VHS back in '96. 2 more VHS purchases after that. I luckily only missed the 1997 release because I did not have a DVD player until 2000 and I have been buying every new transfer of this, H2, and H4 since. To top it off, I have it at an Amazon pre-order guarantee at $19.99 ($15.42 USD). So I am taking a "fingers crossed" approach since I do trust Lionsgate to not mess this up in the wake the new movie.

Edit: Oh and before you ask. Yes I am picking up the H2 and H3 steelbooks with the new 4K transfer. And if you ask why, it is because........ uh......um..... Shut up!
