Anyone hear a official release date?
All I hear is September, but no specific date.
Looks like 10/17.
Think it'll sell better than Doom 3?
I would definitely say yes, if the 360 wasnt so close behind...
Can't wait, hopefully they will get it done properly like Doom 3.
I read in EGM Half Life 2 for Xbox had a few bugs when it was demoed at E3, which may explain the delay til Oct?
Still kinda surprised they are not porting Half Life 2 for the 360 instead.
Unlike Doom 3, which had an added co-op mode, I haven't heard about anything that would make me purchase HL2 for the Xbox if I've played and beaten the PC version. I'll probably at least rent it since I loved HL2 on the PC very much, and would like to experience it in 16x9 on a larger screen with 5.1 sound, but I wish there was something thrown in, like the added stuff when Half-Life was ported to the PS2.
I am excited for Aftermath, and if it contains a progression of the story, the Xbox version might be outdated as soon as it arrives.
Well, they did say they could add light blooming and better lighting in general on the Xbox, but thats as far as Ive heard when it comes to exclusives.
Someone to hold the flashlight, someone to shoot. I've never played HL but have always heard the buzz around it and more recently HL2 so I'll be looking forward to this title. Perhaps the delay is also attributed to some special features being included.
It will be out in 2 days!!!
Any lucky person gotten their hands on a advance copy yet?
If so, impressions? Or post them when you play it.
GamePro gave it a very enthusiastic review.
Though GamePro tends to not be as nit-picky in their reviews as EGM who have yet to review it.
It will also be backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 and run in 720p or 1080i (only on the 360).
There's a review on IGN got a 9.4. I was'nt going to pick up any more Xbox games but since they made this work with the 360 and get 720 P I'm preordering my copy tommorrow
I'll second what Kami said. It should look a lot better on the 360.
One of the select hits selected by Microsoft. 720p will sure be cool.
This is going to be my last Xbox title too. I hope to get a 360 on Nov. 22nd but I've waited a LONG time for Half-Life 2 on the Xbox. Really enjoyed the PC version and still want to experience it again on my Home Theater system. This may be my last "current gen" title all together unless something for the PS2 and GameCube catches my eye.
P.S. I'm really enjoying FarCry Instincts (another title I've played on PC and waited a long time for on the Xbox). SOCOM 3 on the PS2 is great too but switching between it and FarCry really highlights the Xbox's superiority in taking advantage of my home theater setup over the PS2.
I finally got to play the demo of Call of Duty 2 on the 360 today I was pretty dang impressed its definately the quality of a High End PC running the game. Not Bad for a $399 console.
I saw some video from this on gamespot, and wasn't sure if the stuttering was the streaming, or if there were actually some framerate issues with the game. Either way, I'm interested in the game, but can't help think that there's a 360 version coming down the line, possibly including things like a 360 version of CS source, and HL1 Source (since I'd also love to play through the original Half-life again on my Xbox).
One of the best games I have ever played.
Only gripes were the load times, and at times when my health would be very low, it would automaticly load and save the game, which was a little frustrating.
But I got through it.
Seems like HL2 was quietly released on Xbox and not sure if it sold all that well beings it came out the same time as the 360 with all its major hype. Stil surprised it was not ported to the 360 instead.
For any non PC gamer, this game is a must own!!!
On the edge now for HL3, hoping it will come out for PS3 and/or 360.
Think I'm even gonna pick up HL1 for PS2 now
(which I started another thread on)
...and the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is fantastic!!!!
not before the PC
I enjoyed this one a lot as well. Right up there with RE4 in terms of best game of 2005. Would love to have seen a 360 port, but I was impressed with this version anyway. I didn't have too many frame-rate issues, and the graphics/physics were as good as anything I've seen on the X-Box.
