I've found someone selling a barely used pair of Hales T1's for under $1K. Any thoughts on whether or not these are worth it? I'd be using them as rear channels in a Hales Revelation front stage home theater.

They have good bass but certainly not full range. If your X-over cuts the surrounds off at 80 (or whatever) that may not matter. Sonically they lean towards the dark/warm/lush sound. I have the Revelation Twos and the Rev 2 are more extended but not as refined as the T1. When I first heard them yrs ago in a brief demo I was impressed. Now that I have the money to buy them, I tried them at home but wasn't as blown away. I have an Acurus ACT3 and Anthem MCA3, Alpha-Core cables.

If you want to spend less: listen up

I have a pair of Revelation Ones I could sell you which would probably make great surrounds if you are a fan of monopole surround speakers (I'm not). I bought it used locally from the same small but trusted high-end dealer who have been in biz 20+ years. I used one of them as my center channel. Great condition and I have never driven them hard. No original box or manual. email me (don't PM, I don't check them) if you're interested.

edit...

second thoughts, I might be crazy enough to sell my Rev Twos because I plan to buy a pair of Aerials to match my CC3 center anyway. I have the box and manual for these....hmmm
