I had been wanting to pick-up Hairspray on DVD for a while. I finally came across a copy yesterday but didn't buy it. Here's my question, with the new film coming out next year, has anyone heard if New Line will release a new version, loaded with special features to coincide with the release of the upcoming film adaption of the play (based on the original film)? Is the current disc worth picking up now, or should I wait to see if something better is on the horizon?

My advice would probably be to buy it now. I haven't heard anything about a new edition and the edition that is out now is very good. I actually own it myself, and I find that the video is very good, the 5.1 surround is excellent and the extras (which are a commentary and the film's trailer) are very good. The commentary is a very informative one, by the way.

My advice would be to get it now.

Thanks, Nicholas. I'll run out during lunch and pick it up.

    Done.

With a 30% off coupon I had with the Border's Rewards program to use by tomorrow, I ended up paying $9.09 ($9.73 after tax).
