Can you confirm any troubles on your end which can confirm this? I guess this was around 12 pm PST.

Any access problem posts I see Monday-Friday are generally attributed to this site being bombarded by members. Consider the fact that a DONATION DRIVE is happening and it is probably that much worse.
Please take no offense, Aaron. But everytime it's slow someone inevitably asks the same question. What's wrong? It's BUSY! :)

You weren't alone Aaron. I couldn't even get onto HTF around that time. There were several multiple posts of the same thread in HT Hardware (which I've removed). That's usually indicative of the dreaded HTF daytime slowdown.

This is the slowest the HTF has ever been for me.
I have not been able to get into Home Theater Hardware since about 10 am!

Yep! I got bounced too. A few years ago they talked about spliting up some of the titles for the threads. After the decision was made, they swore that it would not be done again. (I think it took about 2 months before they changed something).
No, I'm not complaining, but the Hardware Forum is the worst. I know too that everything is interconnected, and endless cross posting would occur if it were broken up into players, A/V receivers, and so on.
(Here comes the however) However, after a lot of internal minding bending debate, I really think that it would help if one new one was added, just for cables and cords. From the lowly 'F' connector to Monster (and other) power centers.
Well, that was my humble thought.

Let's do first things first. Let's get the new server built and up and running and then decide on spliting the forum any further.
As Rob stated the main reason that you cannot get into this server is because we are getting bombarded during the day. The server simply cannot keep up. Hence the drive for donations for a new one.
The other reason is that members try to post something and when they see that it is taking for ever to post they hit submit again and again and again so we end up with multiple posts in the forum areas. The problem with that is the first post is put in a cue to post when its time comes up. Hitting the submit button just adds to the already long cue and adds even more so to the problem.

Then mayhaps you should maybe look at getting one of those quad processor Dell servers just to be safe

. I know everybody can appreciate more power (insert tool time grunt here). :)
Aaron
edit: Hmmm Dell offers a business lease on the 2550 server and it is like $200 a month. Would it maybe be a better option to go this route and that would leave room for server upgrades in the future as the price of computer parts continues to fall. The amount of interest paid on that lease would be nothing compared to how fast the price of computer parts is dropping.
