h/k dvd-5 stopped reading most dvd's and allot of cd's (1 Viewer)

The dvd-5 I bought as an open box at Fry's (I know, but it matched the rest of my H/K gear) has stopped reading most dvd's and cd's. I don't use it very much, but if I have it I want it to work right. It's still under warranty but costs about $60 to ship to Torrance and takes them 4-6 weeks to return it. Does anyone no if this is an easy do-it-yourself fix, like with a disc cleaner, or should I pack it up and send it?
