I may be only one of 7 people on here who actually saw the film GERRY theatrically (and maybe one of 2 who actually liked it
). It starred Matt Damon and Casey Affleck as two friends who ignorantly venture into the desert wilderness only to get lost and make silly mistakes at every turn. It's a very ponderous, artsy, pretentious film that most people probably couldn't sit through. But I have personally explored Death Valley, CA (where much of the film was shot) so I felt a kinetic connection to the material. And the performances by Damon and Affleck are both pretty strong and raw.
Anyway, the reason for this thread...
Has ANYONE heard ANY news related to a DVD release? The film seems to be near the end of its very limited arthouse release. But here's the thing. The official website for the film (www.gerrythemovie.com) which once housed information on the film itself now simply forwards to the official Criterion DVD home page.
This can only mean one thing: That Criterion has the DVD rights and will eventually release the film on the format (which is both fitting and surprising, actually). However, in their usual fashion there is absolutely NO mention of the title on their website whatsoever.
Any news or scuttlebutt anyone can share?
