No more stuttering, no more missing textures. The engine for the PC version is very solid now. My computer will run it 1280x1024 no problems (AthlonXP 1800, GF4 ti4200). Also something to note for HTPC users...it seems they have built in a lot of front projector native resolutions in the game. i.e. 854x480, 1368x768 (might be a bit off on the exact numbers but you get the idea)

Highly recommended even if GTA3 PC left a sour taste in your mouth.

Jon, I wouldn't count on them having it in. Tuesday is the SHIP date on games, rarely are they actually available on Tues

    I can confirm.
I just came from Best Buy and picked up my copy. Too bad I can't play it yet. [IMG]

The EB I work at (in Canada where it usually takes a day or two extra) got it in yesterday and had to hold till today. Most stores should have it today.

Recently got Vice City on the PC. Big big *THUMBS UP* to Rockstar for the optimizations done to the engine for the PC release. A great many folks complained about GTA3's PC performance and it seems Rockstar has listened. I wanted to post some screenies for you. All screens have FRAPS running (FRAPS is a framerate measuring program that allows you to take screen captures and vids too). The frame limiter is on in the game so the FR listing is apparently capped at 30 (youll see it at the top right).

The game *NEVER* drops below 30 for me and the game runs butter smooth. I have things running at 1280X1024 with 32bit color, 4X antialiasing and 16X anistropic filtering. All screenies are at that resolution so youll need to blow them up if you desktop res is running below that to get the full effect of how grand this looks on PC.

System specs this is running on:

    Pentium 4 3.06gig
    768mb of ram
    ATI Radeon 9700 pro
    120gig Western Digital HD
    Soundblaster Live 5.1

    Here are the screenies:
