Bertrands up for Software

OSX most successful Apple Software ever.

Against vista which stinks. "Trying to get out of it with Windows 7 but you have to deal with DLLs, the registry, disk defragmenter (no user should ever have to do that, Serlet says)"

Snow Leopard built on top of Leopards huge gains. Adding Refinements, Technologies (Blu?) and Exchange Support

Refinements: Finder, Dock, Installer is 45% faster.

Snow Leopard is 6GB smaller than leopard!

Major 'snappy' imprvements

Character recognition on trackpad, faster mail.

Safari 4 outta beta, ships today. Crash resistant, ignores plugin crashes!

Consumer surveys rate them highest for network coverage and customer support.

As for smartphones being a small market: companies don't look lightly on losing the battle for the high-end customers. That's the highest profit group. Lose that, and you're a commodities seller, competing to sell cheap stuff cheapest.

And while small now, it's only going to get bigger. Presumably, there's an advantage in capturing that market now to own it when it's huge.

-Almost TOTAL snoozefest from a consumer point of view but lots Devs will dig
Hmmm, the iPhone delivered. The MBP updates were nice. No BluRay and no surprises, everything was pre-leaked. I'm going to call this RIGHT.

-iPhone RAM, CPU, Storage bumps snoozer,
RIGHT

-intro of external devices through dock is the big 'wow' (think keyboards).
WRONG, Repeat of the 3.0 intro blood monitor (tho to be fair the TomTom thing looks neat but not new)

-No iPhone Mini and no other phone carriers like Verizon.
RIGHT

-Tethering however gets official and destroys the market the MiFi had to itself for 2 weeks.
RIGHT if you don't use AT&T =(

Apple TV not even mentioned
RIGHT

-No tablet
RIGHT

-no consumer refreshes but Mac Pro will get a 16 processor build to shake things up with Snow Leopard
WRONG, MBP got the love

-Snow Leopard features are 75% of the talk with only 'wow' being UI improvements but a lot for devs to like under the hood.
WRONG, mostly repeats of the 3.0 show

-Refresh to Final Cut studio which makes the pro apps a lot more like the changes to iMovie. BluRay Authoring gets embraced. Blu BTO option for Mac Pro ONLY.
WRONG totally

-iLife '09 free add on refresh includes update to iDVD which finally allows BluRay playback but not recording, external drives only supported now for consumer line. (If I keep predicting it eventually I'll be right!)
WRONG TOTALLY

6 Right 5 Wrong =)
