To support the big launch of West Side Story, MGM will also release a wave of "Groovy" catalog music titles on April 15, including such classics as Lambada: The Forbidden Dance, Beat Street, Salsa, Rappin', Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (alas, the first Breakin' is strangely absent), the 1986 version of A Chorus Line, Julien Temple's Absolute Beginners, and Meat Loaf in Roadie. Unfortunately, not all will receive new anamorphic widescreen transfers - Lambada, Salsa, Breakin' 2 and Rappin' are full screen only. All feature trailers, and retail is $14.95 a pop
too bad some are released full screen only.

I am really looking forward to A Chorus Line Beat Street
april 15 can't come quickly enough

How interesting. With the obvious exception of WEST SIDE STORY and ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS, every one of those "groovy" musicals has a reputation as being among the worst movies ever made!

    What a joke.....

Still...all films deserve OAR and 16x9 whenever 1.66:1 or wider.

Hmm... As it includes the original script, I'm wondering if this is going to be an oversized box. Anyone know? Frankly, I've had it with oversides boxes as they don't fit on the shelf.

Very nice....MGM has been very serious about using "special edition" in their latest SEs.

    I'm f*cking bummed about "Breakin' 2" in pan-and-scam...

We wait for years for a re-release...and we get pan-and-scammed.

It isn't a big title...in the annals of history, it's declared a piece of crap. Still, crap or cinema, OAR or no sale.

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

You "Fatal Instinct" fans will probably be bothered as well.

Looks like MGM is really stepping up it's releases of full screen films. Very sad.

And don't forget that BREAKIN' 2 spawned the never-tired joke of calling all sequels ELECTRIC BOOGALOO! You know, like FRIDA 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO! [IMG] [IMG]
That never fails to tickle me.
