If you enjoyed Bill Forsyth's movies (e.g., Local Hero) in the theater, his charming awkward-adolescence movie Gregory's Girl is due 11/6/01.
I enjoyed it, but doubted it would make DVD-land. I'm pleased that it has, in 1.85:1 anamorphic but only mono soundtrack.

Keep in mind as an added bonus for GREGORY'S GIRL - it will contain the never before heard in the US original "Scottish" English audio track in addition to the "American" English audio track.
Both versions are exactly the same, with the exception of the accents. The producers of the film had the actors re-record their speaking parts with less of a Scottish accent to make it easier for American audiences to understand what the actors were saying.

I'm really looking forward to this one. If only they would re-release Local Hero with a decent transfer as well.
I saw his latest, Gregory's Two Girls recently, and that too is worth checking out for fans of the original. Whether it will have any kind of R1 release is another matter -- I saw it at a recent UK film fest in NYC.

It's "smaller" films like this that really get me excited when I see that they are announced for DVD release. I haven't seen this film for years and I can't wait to see it again.
Trivia note: The actress Clare Grogan was the lead singer of the early 80's new wave group "Altered Images".

Another big fan of Gregory's Girl here, eagerly looking forward to 11/6!
Now if we can only get some of Forsyth's other films released (especially Housekeeping)!!

Great news, I look forward to picking this one up.
I'd also love to see someone release Forsyth's "Comfort and Joy" as well!

I've had both Gregory's Girl & Gregory's 2 Girls for a while. Unusual for us to have a region 2 release of anything before you guys. I'd recommend both films to you all.
Both these R2 discs have the amazing DVD extra of scene selection too [IMG] So many of our early discs actually have that as the ONLY extra! [IMG]
