Myblacks are degrading and showing blocks of RED, my lights are rippling with GREENS! it hapens within gradients when it should be a smooth fade like in a persons cheek or the sky - its driving me insane!!!!

I thought I had solved this problem, heres what I have ben through so far, and I need some serious help.

1) I have a Samsung 40" LCD 1080i wall mounted in my bedroom LN-S4041D (Last years model)

2) A few months ago I purchased a Tivo Series 3 HD recorder - has two cable cards with Charter digital HD package.

3) At first I was using the component cable that came with the Cable box because the HDMI cable that came with tivo wasnt long enough to run through my wall. (I also have an xbox 360 hooked up via PC monitor input into the samsung)

After having the Tivo hooked up for about a month, all of a sudden I started getting this digital noise, the reds and greens, it got worse and worse.

In order to test the problem, I hooked up an s-video cable output from the tivo3 and plugged it into the wall mounted TV to see if I still got the noise - yep it was still there.

Next, I brought in my old TV ( Also a samsung, but a 32" LCD of the SAME EXACT MODEL LN-S3241D) and plugged the s-video into the smaller tv running the same show on TV - BAM no noise!

so i THOUGHT I had found my problem, in fact I could run the shows simultaneously, the 32 using svideo, the 40 using component and both screens displaying the tivo output - hte wall TV had the red and green "ghosting degredation" and the 32 looked fine!!!

so i thought ok - its the set - problem solved, I called Best Buy and scheduled a tech to come out.

- anyway the next week (before the tech came out) I was moving some boxes and I found the HDMI cable that came with the Tivo, I figured I would give it a shot.

I pulled up a show that had a bad case of the distortion, and then i paused the tivo, disconnected the component and plugged in the HDMI - and viola! beautiful picture! So I cancelled the BestBuy tech and just let the cable hang - procrastinating about buying a cable to run through the wall.

Two weeks later - ITS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

The same damn interference! It creeped back in! I added some of those little magnetized clamps that are supposed to stop interference on the HDMI but it didnt help.

This is so weird and its driving me crazy - has anyone dealt with this?

The best place to check would be the Tivo Community (the URL is obvious). They have a section dedicated to the S3 as well as a few Tivo employees that drop in from time to time.

It happes with the Xbox too (PC input)! - ITs not a Tivo specific problem, but i guess I could try posting over there.

Its a SAMSUNG / CABLE related problem - the tivo plays fine on the other tivo.

The distortion happens whether the Xbox is powered on or not.

New Development:

I realized this morning that the distortion doesnt happen when i first turn on the TV so I think its HEAT related!
The longer the set is on the worse the distortion - has anyone else seen this?
