I was looking at the internet movie database at Back to the Future and when I saw the other verison page, it mention that in the television verison, the line about terrorist was cut and the part of the letter saying that is gone due to digital erashing. Let hope it doesn't destory more of the movie when it someday comes out on DVD. The link to the page is Link Removed by the way.

I saw this when they aired it last month on NBC. They totally butchered Doc's death scene really bad. They removed the part where the Lybians shoot him up close. Instead you see the truck coming, with them firing then it cuts to Doc's dead body on the ground. Basically they removed any close up of the terrorists. Also the terrorist word was deleted in the line and letter earlier in the film. But when Doc shows the letter at the end it still has the terrorist line in it.

It's hard to say if this will be a concrete edit. Sounds like they did it for network television and to show sympathy for the events. I for one, doubt if it will be a permanent change.

According to the Brit DVD Review magazine, which is usually pretty reliable, BTTF will be released on DVD early 2002, with lots of extras. The reason for the delay is to allow the company which currently owns the distribution rights the full period of its license before distribution rights revert to whoever has the right to release the DVD version. I'm well aware that we've had lots of false hopes and rumours on this topic before, but this does seem rather more plausible than some of the other stories which have circulated over the years.

While channel surfing a few weeks ago I saw this edit and thought nothing of it. Long before 9-11 films shown on broadcast TV were butchered. Its not like this is the only change they made to the film, pretty much everything that hinted at foul language, sex, or violence was cut. I seriously doubt that they would carry this edit over to a DVD release.
