just finished reading the transcript of the chat and boy there is so much info there that it took forever to read through

Great news about John Ford movies on dvd, e.g a restored print of Graph of Wraths.

Regarding Fox Classic DVD, both Laura and My
Darling Clementine will be released, both looking incredible. a full list should appear somewhere in February 2003.

Also very happy to learn that there is a possibility that St Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues are looked at.

    Thanks Peter for the chat

Also good news about 3 WOMEN, although I wonder what Peter meant by the unusual way it's being released, something he couldn't talk about. Anybody have a clue what that meant?

I couldn't get hooked up myself, so thanks to DeepakJR for thanking Peter for JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH.

If Criterion release Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, I could die contented.

If Fox has indeed reached an agreement with Criterion to release their titles, I will be overjoyed. 3 Women is one of my most wanted titles on DVD, a Criterion presentation would be icing on the cake.
If Fox has indeed allowed Criterion access to some of it's titles, maybe there is hope that Warner will do the same one day.

I saw very little questioning about Futurama (actually Peter brought it up and there were 1-2 follow up questions about format and timeframe)--- every other question was about ROSWELL. There is a fan site that tips members off to Peter's appearances here- so the join to post in feedback- or they come to the chats. They're persistent- I'll give 'em that!
By the way- for anyone looking for the transcript, it's here:

I hope with X-Men 2 on the way that they will finally put some serious thought into releasing the cartoon in season box sets. There are 3 "best of" discs (and I got 2 of them), but this is one cartoon that I would love to have done the right way on DVD. [IMG]

What do you mean great news? They have no intention of remastering the Rodgers & Hammerstein films. [IMG]

"I can't really go into details yet but 2003 will be a huge year for the alien films on DVD.
    Can't say any more yet"
[IMG]!!!. This comment from Peter has me really excited. I really do hope that Alien 3 may finally be getting the Special Edition treatment it so badly deserves.
Many thanks to Peter for his continued support and for taking the time to update us all on on the future of Fox DVDs.

I just read the transcript (thanks Vince!) and am way psyched to learn that the Predator SE will be out in R1 mid-next year. And if Criterion can put out "I Am Curious (Yellow)," just think what they'll do with a certain other risque title...

Maybe the poor quality of the transfers is why they do not sell! That may have something to do with it.

But as more people buy DVD players, demand will go up for DVDs and prices (hopefully) will go down.

Odd that Fox would abandon the Five Star series, though. What they should have done (are you lurking, Peter?) is number them, a la Criterion Collection. Then all of us obsessive types would be forced to collect them all. [IMG]
Also, the comment about fans of "the Alien films" being very happy was intriguing.....could they possibly have talked David Fincher into doing his director's cut of the much-maligned Alien 3 after all?? I'd buy that for sure.[IMG]

while it was encouraging to hear Peters tone in regards to classics and 'deep' catalog titles,
there was a helluv a lot of dissapointing info in there for me

-NO SE's of the Planet of the Apes movies.
-NO anamorphic remasters of the R&H films
-NO anmorphic SEs of Towering Inferno/Posideon Adventure.

i always figured the R&H films were a long shot, but i've been hearing for a while that the POTA films and those two Irwin Allen movies were slated to 5-star releases in '03.
and i thought this info came from inside Fox.

    sad, sad, sad.

really disappointed about the R&H films.
there was a special on one of the composers on PBS a few months ago, and the clips they showed from Oklahoma were drop dead gorgeous. the whole special was letterboxed so i'm assuming it was hi-def.
good grief, the least i could ask for would be a decent anamorphic transfer of this.
i've heard nothing but bad things about the non-a release and thats why i won't buy it.
...so yeah, if the product is crap, you can probably expect poor sales.
