Whatever happened to the rumored special edition for The Great Escape? I've been avoiding the $10 version in favor of the upgrade, but it would be nice to know if the SE is still pending or has slipped into limbo. Any updates here?

It's not rumored. It's been out in the UK for months

MGM is sitting on a ton of SEs. Great Escape, Robocop etc that have been released overseas

I would recommend the R2 version.

Knowing that was a reason for avoiding the current R1 version. The R2 DVD won't work in my R1 player, however. So the question is, does anyone know when MGM is going to release the SE in North America?

The cross will NEVER make it here
I can just see the problems and the screaming.
Same reason why R1 Buffy Season1 doesn't fold out to a cross (that and it looked really annoying )
