Many Directors like to work with the same actors repeatedly. Some have been more successful than others.

Who are some of your favorite Director/Actor combos?

    A few of mine:

    1. Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro

    2. David Lean and Alec Guinness

    3. The Coen Brothers and Francis McDormand

Color me proud to be the first to mention the immortal combo of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. [IMG]
Also - let's not forget one of the most influential duos in the annals of American Comedy Cinema:
John R. Cherry the 3rd and Jim Varney! Just look at these collaborations!
Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam
    Ernest Goes to Camp
    Ernest Saves Christmas
    Ernest Goes to Jail
    Ernest Scared Stupid
    Ernest Rides Again
    Slam Dunk Ernest
    Ernest Goes to Africa
    Ernest in the Army
...to say nothing of the hundreds of brilliant television commercials! Knowhutimean? [IMG]
If I may now address the original question...
Kurt Russell/John Carpenter is ususally a winning combo.
The Coens seem to use John Turturro in a memorable way when they use him. ("Look into your hawt!")
Joe Dante and Dick Miller. [IMG]
(I'm now referring to my reponse in the "Julia Roberts is in all of Soderbergh's movies" thread, so forgive me if these next ones sound familiar.)
    James Cameron and Bill Paxton!
    Woody Allen and Diane Keaton!
David Mamet and William H. Macy!
    Lawrence Kasdan and Kevin Kline!
    McG and Crispin Glover!
