I just got a Sony KV-32HS420 that I paired up with a Tosh SD-5970 (yes - HDMI). It sits in a corner of an odd shaped room (vaulted ceiling, lots of angles). I'm looking for a very basic 2.1 speaker configuration. Anybody have any suggestions? A salesperson at BestBuy recommended Athena S.5 mains with an AS-P400 sub. Size IS a concern (not so much for sub, since it can be 'hidden'), as is cost. Naturally, the lower the better, but not at the expense of getting crummy quality.
Sound absorption is pretty good in the room - carpet on the floor, as well as a couple of good-sized decorative rugs on the walls. There is however a fireplace protruding into the room, creating reflective surfaces.
Any and all suggestions are very welcome.
