Hi all, I just got the Denon 3802 and have a few questions for those of you that have this unit. A few things in the instructions confuse me a bit.
First on Pg. 20 at the top where it talks about selecting the surround speakers for the different surround modes. I don't have 2 sets of surround speakers yet so I cant hook it all up to understand. Am I correct in understanding that if I had 2 sets of surrounds + 2 back surrounds and I selected A+B in these settings I would get the same sound out of A and B but loose the back surround channels? Like a theater with multi sets of R&L surrounds?
On the next pg.21 in the notes box. The -subwoofer mode- section when dealing with "large" front speakers in the "selection of the "LFE" play mode" is confusing to me [IMG]
On Pg.53 in the surround parameters box at the bottom. In the LFE paragraph it talks about the "subwoofer peak limit level setting" in the sys setup menu. I can't find this setting nor do I understand what they are getting at in this paragraph.
I hope I don't sound too inept but am a bit confused.
    Thanks for the help.
BTW for questions about my purchase experience be sure to duck in to Vendor Feedback and see my thread "experiences with MoreAudioVideo.com?" Look for my follow up post.

BTW, Is the remote on the 3802 backlit? Mine isn't and I thought it was supposed to be.

There's a button near the bottom that turns on the backlight.

Thanks for the help guys. I will try and lump this question in here as well in case someone reads all the way down. What is the length of the factory warranty on this unit? See below for the reason I am asking.

quote: Hmmm, that might be the impetus for me to buy yet another set of dipole surrounds[/quote]
Buy a monopole instead and set it up as the manual suggest it.
Your gonna like multy channel music better, even if you like it now.
Of course timbre match is of concern so choose accordingly. [IMG]

OK I am a little confused. From my first post--
"First on Pg. Like a theater with multi sets of R&L surrounds?"
Now people are saying I would not loose the back surrounds if I selected A+B for the side surrounds. As I understand it this receiver only has SEVEN amplified channels, at my count 2 back surrounds + side surrounds A&B + 3 fronts is 9 speakers. I just wish I had enough speakers to try it myself and find out. Is anyone set up this way?

The 2[A+B] surrounds are wired parallel internaly, that's why the manual warns that the speaker impedance shouldbe at least of 8 ohms per speakers.
Of course if you don't have 9 speakers then don't engage A+B,but if you had all speakers would be powered by the receiver.
