The wife popped a HUGE surprise on me tonight, giving me the Pioneer DV-45A. I know I'm getting DARK SIDE OF THE MOON when it comes out, but I'm low on funds right now, so what is the best out of SACD and DVDA discs? Let it be known that my music tastes runs from classical to jazz to rock to movie soundtracks, essentially anything except country. Thanks.

Probably my favorite SACD (based on 15 seconds of thought) would be Allison Kraus - New Favorite. It has an excellent mix of music, is multi-channel, is hybrid, and more importantly is performed and produced well.

I don't know what the rest of your system holds, but if you want to show it off (to yourself and others) I suggest the Blue Man Group DVD-A. Lot's o bass and impressive loudness, but also musical and enjoyable... less loud.

There have been umpteen posts like this in the last few weeks, just check the music forum. You don't even have to do a search just set the view to last 30 days and look.

My personal favorites:

SACD: Miles Davis Kind Of Blue
DVD-A: Steely Dan Two Against Nature

Thanks. I'm still torn between HOTEL CALIFORNIA, TWO AGAINST NATURE, any Miles Davis, and Dave Brubeck. I did look through the rest of this music section, but tired of the DVDA vs. SACD battles that always seemed to sprout up. Glad the wife was aware enough to get the universal player! :D
