The red squirrels are starting to bully the grey squirrels in my yard now. They also look they wanna fly for people's throats. They look like little viscious, evil creatures spawned in Hell. I haven't seen them before till this suimmer and have no idea why they are here now. Just look at their ears, they look like horns:

They are the fastest little things I've ever seen. They make the chimpmunks here look like sloths. It's crazy.

To a Brit, this thread is really ironic, since over here we've practically no red squirrels left - over the last 100 years the grey squirrels (a U.S. import) have muscled in on the red squirrels' territories, so red squirrels are very rare indeed. There are now moves to re-introduce the red squirrel through breeding programmes.

You wouldn't like to package a few live ones up and post them over here, would you? [IMG]

if he did they'd probably carry some disease that would further deplete your population.

So it's a classic red coats vs rebels battle. Why can't they just mate with each other and create super breeds like dogs do?

"Follow. But! Follow only if ye be men of valour, for the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived! Bones of full fifty men lie strewn about its lair. So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth."

"That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!"

Are they not non natives here in the US and wiping out the larger native squirrels by hybridizing?

There used to be flying squirrels here too my mom said. Out of the 3, the red squirrel is the most viscious. I'd hate to have to fight with a red squirrel. Viscious beings they be.

I LOVE squirrels. We just have the gray squirrels in Seattle but they have black ones up BC. Why don't you just round up your red ones and ship them out here. They look cute.

Here the red squirrel is displacing the gray squirrel. Odd how things work. Gray squirrels seem to cause less damage and are less prone to live in your attic and walls than the reds. If you want them PLEASE come and take as many as you like!
