If any of you are familiar with Car Audio, you might know that Focal speakers are arguably the best you can get (Dynaudio and A/D/S are there only competition). Anyway, I got a new car and my Focal components wouldn't fit into the doors, so I had to get some ADS speakers for my new car. Well, I got to thinking and decided rather than sell the Focals (which are 6.5" Polyglass components) I could build some nice boxes and make them my new main for my Dorm-theater. These are the same speakers used in JM Labs speakers, so I thought my idea sounded great.
Today I finally got done building and painting the speakers. They are .5 cub feet each and are about the size of a Paradigm Titan. I used 3/4" MDF for the boxes.
I got them all hooked up to my Onkyo 494 and popped a few CDs. All I can say is WOW. I can't believe how good these babies sound. They have more bass than my parents' Pioneer 10" floorstanders, the imaging is incredible, and they are very smooth and dynamic. I am SO glad I didnt decide to sell them.
Just felt like telling y'all about em. Anyone else familiar with Focal? You can get the raw drivers at www.zalytron.com for a pretty good price. If you are at all decent at woodworking, I highly recommend you give them a try.

Yes I am familiar with Focal (I am fairly certain Focal
supplies PolyKevlar Drivers for B&W's Higher Lines)
Yes I am familiar with thier quality and price.
I beleive there are more competition for Focal than just
A/D/S I beleive that Infinity Perfect Components and some
other dedicated Components are every bit as good but priced
within the same range as the Focals.
It sounds to me like you made good use of a great set of
drivers. Now we need to see PEEKTURES! [IMG]

Yeah, I shouldn't have said ONLY competition. The perfects are nice, as are MB Quart and a few others.
I can take pictures next week when I get the in my dorm room. If I can figure out how to get them online I will.
