I got a mailbox full of flyers today. The Futile Shop one only has the XBox in it with its new low price and the Toys R Us one has all three consoles in it but the PS2 and GC are still at full price with the XBox reduced. Are they trying to push the XBox?

Hmm-they have here. Why not try going in to FS and getting them to beat their own website price (110% I believe)?

My local K-Mart hasn't dropped the price of the PS2 yet, but the X-Box has been. Strange.

Lead time. Now you know who communicated their price drop to retailers better (~ 6 weeks ago).

My recent Toys-R-Us flyer had the PS2 ATV Off-Road Fury bundle on sale for $449.99, this is after the PS2 when down in price to $299. Hmm, that's a pretty expensive game...:D

Jeremy:

You beat me to it.

My ads in today's (05-26-2002) NJ paper:

Circuit City: XBox $199; PSS2 $299
Best Buy: XBox $199; PS2 $299
Wiz: No mention of either - only Game Boy Advance
CompUSA: XBox $199; PS2 No Mention
KMart: XBox No Mention; PS2 $299

What PS2 price break???

Camp, what is Toys R Us doin'?

Future Shop's website is not a competitor to Future Shop, so they won't beat it by 110%, just match it... but I'd be surprised if the in store price wasn't the same.

These ads are set in stone two, three weeks ahead of time. Microsoft had all ready told stores they were dropping their price, so that's why you see what you see. That's also the proof Sony used to cut their price "first" last week.

Doesn't matter in the long run anyway, the prices in the stores should be adjusted for all three consoles.

I meant, what are you guys sellin' it for? I now understand about the ad lead time issue - I didn't when I made my post above. Looks like they're both $199, just have to go to the stores & ignore the ads.

Thanks.
