After three years of largely unsuccessful attempts at putting out Google TV, Google has decided to shutter the name and re-brand as Android TV.

Can a re-branding change the hopes of the platform? It didn't work for Microsoft with frequent re-branding of what is currently Bing.

Anyone out there own what is now going to be referred to as Android TV?

Yes. I own the original google tv. Mostly using it for pandora and browsing sites on my tv with the chrome browser. Hbo go stopped working and most of the newer apps that require a newer flash version

If it means they update with new Android apps, to stay current (and cross-link with the tablets), that might help stop the bleeding.
But it's a hard time for set-top boxes, as they're caught between the vets still using the game consoles, and the new converts using their smart-TV's.
The game consoles are more fluid about their firmware and can update the apps as needed, and that's where the boxes that "thought they invented this" have fallen behind.
