I've heard differant upscaling players perform differantly based on the TV, so what's a good player to get for the Sony KV34HS420? All I know is to get HDMI so I don't have to deal with DVI/HDMI conversion...

Also, it would be nice to have a player that plays DVD-R/+Rs well and isn't picky with them.

    Thanks again.

Check the Sony site, they have a slew of new players that upscale via HDMI and not very expensive. They have a 400 disc model that upscales HDMI and Multi Channel SACD.

The DVP-NS975V looks sweet, but a quick google search finds too many problems. Which only serves to anger me, because the whole "plays scratched discs" idea sounded really sweet, as did a lot of the other seemingly original features.

The Panny S77 looks good. Most of the reviews I read were glowing, so I guess that's what I'll get. Thanks for the pointers.
