    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a good preamp from second hand.
Could anybody suggest me a good one like the rotel rsp 1066 or b&k ref 30.
It should cost +-800$ and include ac3,dts,dpl2 and more.
Radio shouldn't be include in it (it wont be a disaster if it will include one)
    Thank you

If you are only going to spend less than $900 say I would look to the following:
B&K Ref 20, Sometimes I have seen the Ref 30 go for like $850 or so

Audio Refinement Pre-2dsp: Goes for about $800

    Outlaw 950 new is $799

I have not seen the rotel go for less than about $1,000 so far.

    EAD Encore Pre/Pr: about $900

Some of the above don't have PLII.....

What is the difference between a expansive preamp and cheap one?
I mean is the difference in the sound is dramatic?
    For example lets compare between b&k ref 50 to b&k 30, b&k 20 or rotel rsp 1066?
In general is b&k consider to be an excellent company like rotel ? what about outlaw is it consider to be a good company?

Everyone has there preference on what they like.
Alot depends on what you are looking for. Most people would take a B&K over a Rotel I think. I passed on the Rotel 1066 due to lack of tuner...a preference for me.
I had the Outlaw for 30 days. For the price it is a nice unit.
The only thing you can't due is upgrade like with the B&K 30 and 50.

By the way would you say that connecting rotel RB-985 to one of the preamp mentioned above is a good match ?
