My friend is upgrading his TV and has offered to sell me his used TV for $700 USD. It is a Mitsubishi 50" rear projection TV. It is 3.5 years old (no component video). I don't have the model number handy...but I remember he paid around $2,200 for it new. Being my friend and also my neighbor, I know that he takes excellent care of his that isn't an issue. I just wanted to know if $700 is a steal, fair, or too much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like a fair deal. The cheapest price I could find on a new 50" Mits is around $1800. If he were my neighbor I'd tell him to cut the price to $650 and he has a deal. You could probably get the price down even lower than that considering it's not easy to sell a used television but at that price you'd be doing each other a favor.
