This is very sad news indeed. Sam Snead was the first to put smooth in a golf swing. My favorite golfers certainly owe him a debt - Fred Couples and Ernie Els. [IMG]

I remember watching Sam hitting a wedge over some tress - the first time I had ever seen him swing. Unbelievably smooth! I had never seen a swing like that before, or since.

There is a restaurant in Myrtle Beach called Sam Snead's Grill (they have wonderful food, btw). The place is filled with memorabilia from Snead's career, including old photgraphs, golf clubs, scorecards, plaques with lists of tourneys won and holes-in-one, etc. The man had an incredible career, and one of the most beautiful golf swings the game has ever seen.
