GoldenEar has announced the addition of the ForceField 30 and ForceField 40 subwoofers to its portfolio. The two compact subs are priced at $899 and $1,199, respectively, and will be available in August. The design philosophy behind the subwoofers at the outset was to create uncompromising performance from the smallest-possible enclosures. The ForceField 30 and 40 include both sonic and cosmetic refinements over earlier models, such as a BRX line curved top panels to minimize cabinet resonances, increased wall thicknesses for better absorption, and perforated grilles for improved airflow. Rejigged amplifiers are based on the company’s own SuperSub X/XXL and use Analog Devices DSP for flatter frequency response and lower distortion.
