Nice. Imagine if they'd decided to release a limited edition Gold Gamecube bundle with it. That would be something. I'm really looking forward to this one when I get it sometime next week.

Every other Zelda game has been gold, right? The only ones I own that I don't have in Gold is the original NES game and A Link To The Past...so maybe those two didn't?

As for the Japanese Cover Art...yuck. The cover we're getting looks...classy and dignified to me. And again, it "looks" like a Zelda cover. The other one just doesn't do it for me.

I original NES one did come in a gold cart, as I recall. Link to the Past didn't. I remember buying that one on the day it came out and not getting a gold cart.

Yeah, I got A Link To The Past the first day it came out too (I think it was a fathers day?, could have been some relatives BDay too, though). But My original NES Zelda definitly isn't gold, I guess I missed that one...

I wanted to be sure of this and just checked EBay and saw that there is a few out there with the gold cart. I only have the gold Majora, and Zelda II for the NES in gold. Oh, well.

The original NES Zelda was on a gold cart for a couple of years, as was the Adventure of Link. Nintendo re-released them with slightly different packaging and in the standard gray plastic sometime around 1990 or 1991, IIRC.

The Japanese cover brings a whole new meaning to everyone calling Link "Fairy Boy" in Ocarina.

I like ours better too.

Link's Awakening wasn't gold either, was it? I don't think my (black and white) copy is gold.

The original Zelda gold cartridge was a big deal at my school when the game was released. It didn't hurt that we all loved the game. Zelda and Metroid are the two games I most distinctly remember excitedly talking about with friends at school. "I got the raft last night!" "Really?! I'm still trying to find the recorder!" Of course, these same friends spoiled Metroid for me. "Samus is a girl!" Bah. :)

Anyone remember the cheesy live-action commercial for the original Legend of Zelda? I wonder if you can see that online.

Finally, I much prefer our cover to the Japanese. Minimalist and classy.

I remember those partly because I thought the commercials were so stupid I didn't want to have anything to do with the game. Then a friend got it and I was able to play it and then bought my own.

None of the Game Boy games (Link's Awakening, Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages & Seasons) were gold.

I think I downloaded the original Zelda commercial from Link Removed, but the site's not up now. Hopefully it's just temporary, because if I'm thinking of the right site, they had tons of old game commercials.
