Alright guys, I've decided to give Blu-Ray a try. After being HD-DVD exclusive since July, I see Blu-Ray has improved alot since its initial release, there are some titles I cannot resist from exclusive Blu-Ray studios and frankly, I'm sick of not being able to enjoy any movie I want in high definition. On top of all that, I have customers at my store telling me how they love their Panasonic or Sony Blu-Ray players and the movies they watch LOL.

So when I get the next batch of Panasonic Blu-Ray players (because Panasonic is my favourite brand and I have no use for 1080p/24 at the moment), I am going to grab one for myself.

I need your help in determining which three Blu-Ray movies are best to watch for myself to be wowed immediately when I receive the player, in video AND sound.

Please pick from the following list:
Kingdom of Heaven: DC
Enemy of the State
X-Men: The Last Stand
Black Hawk Down
Tears of the Sun
Total Recall
The Punisher
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Lord of War
House of Flying Daggers
The Terminator
Crash
The Fifth Element

Thanks for everyones input in advance!

I read somewhere that T2 will be available overseas for HD-DVD. there is no region code for HD-DVD.

I will be waiting for a comparison review of the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD versions.

Definitely not 'The Fifth Element', the transfer is a PoS (my upscaled SuperBit version blows away the BD version.)

ENEMY OF THE STATE looks superb. TEARS OF THE SUN got great reviews, but I don't personally have it.

All look terrific but BHD just blew me away with it's attention to detail!

Looks like it's going to be narrowed down to:

Black Hawk Down
Kingdom of Heaven
X-Men: The Last Stand

Now all I need is a Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Still backordered :frowning:

And all of the Warner Brothers classic releases currently in HD-DVD and coming soon to BD. Good viewing.

I can personally vouch for X-Men 3, and I've also heard a lot of good things about KOH and Black Hawk Down. I have those two, but haven't gotten around to watching them yet.

You gotta love those uncompressed/lossless tracks (48/24 to boost on the first 3). Those are reference in my book, the others don't look or sound so well, even though they are all great movies for me.

It's not on your original list, but I watched THE LAST SAMURAI today on BD, and the video quality is superb, every bit as three dimensional as the best HD I've seen.

I already have it on HD-DVD, so I don't really want to double dip on that title. But thank you for the suggestion :).
