For a collector, the Vinegar Syndrome Limited Edition Mediabook is still readily available from their website, at a cheaper price. It's a much nicer box. Incidentally, a very good supplement on Nestor Almendros included.

Vinegar Syndrome has this same 4K on their site.

I bought that collector’s set from their site recently- haven’t gotten around to it yet.

It's a very weird movie. Nicholson's direction is so relaxed and slapdash nothing seems to gel, and yet that style is the film's substance, which grows on you incrementally. And then there's Almendros' cinematography. Fresh off DAYS OF HEAVEN, the images have a similar, rough-hewn transcendence, as if Caravaggio and William S. Hart were collaborating. The detail was astounding in 35mm, which I assume will achieve even greater clarity in 4K.

Especially the interiors and candle-lit scenes. The 4K UHD really does it justice.

It's not a very good film, by any standards. But those candle-lit interiors were amazing. My reference to Hart and Caravaggio was purposeful, as it seemed simultaneously primitive and painterly. You got a sense of people existing on the edge of things, where nature and the elements had precedence, but presented, because of the lighting, with a sense of mystery that was palpable. Also, it was a kick seeing Mary, the waitress at La Crepe on 57th & Third, whom I had become friendly with, on the big screen.
