Does anyone else notice a scratchy sound in the wedding sequence of GF I? It is particularly noticable when Fat Clemenza is dancing and demanding wine after his overweight body can't handle the rigors of dancing.
I did a search and could find no other posts about this aspect of the soumd, only discussion about the mix, hence the separate topic.
Is this just because of the sound tracks age?

There were a lot of instances where the dialog got scratchy. I find it strange that it didn't bother me either.

I answered a more general version of this same question in the "official" Godfather review thread. Link is here . The short version is it has always sounded like this and the new mix actually takes a little bit of the edge off of it.

I haven't finished watching it yet, but overall I'm...a *bit* disappointed in the presentation of this classic.
Both picture and sound seem to vary quite significantly from scene to scene and even from shot to shot.
